Three Ways to help reduce a Headache.

Three Ways to help reduce a Headache.

Headaches are a common symptom that arise in our Chandlers Ford office. Here at JS Chiropractic, we love to ask questions to our community to understand the underlying causes of a headache, is it related to emotional stress?, increased time behind a computer?, maybe even a dietary issue?

Based on the our JS Chiropractic community, we have outlined 3 simple ways you can try to help reduce your headache.

1.      Keeping hydrated. Often we forget to drink enough water, one of the main symptoms of dehydration is often a headache. We recommend investing in one of those big 2 litre water bottles and ensuring that that is drunk fully by the end of the day, ensuring your getting your daily recommended allowance of water to keep your body well hydrated and headache free

2.      Change your desk posture- Increased strain on the muscles and ligaments in the neck is a main cause of headaches, usually it causes a tension type headache described as a “band like feeling” around the head. If this is you, abide by the motto, “your next posture is your best posture” making a effort to constantly change the angle and position of your neck and overall posture taking less stress and strain off those muscles and ligaments in your neck

3.      Ensuring good sleep hygiene- I have noticed clients with headaches often have poor sleep patterns, either not sleeping well or not getting enough hours. Poor sleep hygiene will increase our levels of fatigue making our muscles and joints more tired. This links to a poor posture causing a headache or lack of sleep affecting chemical imbalances in our body also causing a headache.

There are multiple other causes of headaches but I have identified these three as these are common that I see in our Chandlers Ford office and ones with simple lifestyle changes can be easily addressed.

If you have a headache and would like it seen to don’t hesitate to contact us at JS Chiropractic and see how Chiropractic care can help your headaches today.
